KUMITE

Kumite is a form of sparring and a fundamental part of karate training. All of the offensive and defensive techniques are practiced in a face to face controlled environment. While some of our training is focused in competition, the aim of traditional karate is to provide self-defense tools for real life scenarios.

Kumite classes will develop conditioning, speed, and explosiveness, but more importantly the goal is to optimize the effectiveness of attack and defense based on the objectives of the practitioner.

KATA

Kata is a simulation form of individual training based on a systematic sequence of movements. The main objective of kata training is to improve the technique, but molded to the idiosyncrasy of the practitioner. Kata training requires mental and physical commitment to identify, interprete, and apply specific movements, based on multiple repetitions, of the various Shotokan techniques that are learned during the training of fundamentals or basics.

Our kata classes go beyond the correct synchronization of movements by developing awareness and the channelization of internal energy.

KIHON

The core of karate training is Kihon that includes an amalgam of defensive and offensive techniques, stances, body coordination, concentration, breathing and energy conservation skills. The proper execution of Kihon is essential for the progress of training in karate. Our classes focuses on the different interpretations and applications of Kihon: Basic, Kumite, Self Defense, and Combat.
